Nisyros Island & Volcano. Where power and beauty create perfect harmony

Nisyros Island Boat Tour is consistently voted travelers choice every year and for very good reason too.

Nisyros the volcanic Island in the south Aegean region of Greece is probably one of the most Idyllic Islands in all of Greece, it is likely that it is one of the Islands you have heard  least about unless of course you happen to be Greek yourself. That said the opportunity to visit the Island for the day should not be missed. Its a complete contrast to the Island of Kos, immaculately clean, relaxed and oozing quality and charm

Nisyros Is a grown ups Santorini, a stunningly beautiful example of immaculate Greek tradition. The Island has approximately 2000 people by Population size and is ranked as number 2 in the best things to go and see whilst on holiday in Kos. Aside from the obvious attraction of the Volcano and the breathtaking scenery Nisyros has an interesting array of quaint shops, restaurants and historical places of interest not least the Monastery of the Panagia Spilani which is known to every Greek, especially the ladies around the world and which plays host to a very special and lively 3 day festival celebration of every year.

For the adventurers that have hired a car and want to explore Nisyros at their own pace. Ferries to Nisyros do have limited spaces for vehicles at approx 10- 15 euros each way. Definitely worth considering

Simply Kos Top Tips

Nisyros is 2 souls entwined in perfect harmony – Power & Beauty, a God & Goddess

Once you've arrived  in the harbour of Mandraki (a short boat hop of approx 1 hour), the island's capital, you'll head to the ancient village of Nikia on the edge of the Stefanos crater and down into the Caldera to wander across the crust of the caldera as it boils below.

Shortly after, head back down to Mandraki. Sugar-cubed houses stretch across this amphitheater-shaped town, which is in the shadow of a medieval castle and the cliff-side monastery of Panagia Spiliani. There'll also be time to admire the town's balconied houses or have dinner in a taverna before returning back to Kos port and then on to your hotel or apartment.
